I always just thought of Mervyn Peake as a fine writer, but he was a great illlustrator as well. He illustrated his own brilliant Gormenghast Trilogy, but I'm particularly fond of his illustrations of Treasure Island, and the Lewis Carroll Alice Books. Here's my copies of his work: -
Long John Silver and Captain Flint |
The Mad Hatter and the March Hare |
Tweedledum and Tweedledee |
Alice with the red queen and the white queen |
The Cheshire Cat |
The Walrus and the Carpenter |
Gryphon and Mock Turtle |
Wool and Water |
Frog Footman |
March Hare |
Mock Turtle |
white Rabbit |
Dodo |
Mouse from The Pool of Tears |
