Project Update: Taibach Library

2 hours work at the Artists' Group tonight - didn't feel as though I got a huge amount done: -

I do quite like what I've done with the wall in the foreground, though.

Project Update: Taibach Library

I was able to spend a couple of hours this morning just working on the painting. Not finished yet, but I managed to do quite a bit more work on the facade and the windows, and also on the side of the building. I also put a base colour on the wall in the foreground, which I'll build up. Here's the painting as it is now: -

I did mean to do this one as a small painting. Still, having finished the Glasgow painting I was at a bit of a loose end on Wednesday, and couldn't find the small canvas I'd already sketched out. SO I took a blank medium sized canvas and roughly sketched out the library again, then started painting it. This is where we are: -

Now, you do have to bear it in mind that my scanner doe do some funny things to the colours. The sky is not as pink as it looks here, and the grey isn't grey, it's blue. The yellow is also stronger in this than it really looks. Still. I'm not unhappy considering the more loose approach I've taken with it.

Yes, there was no time to work on the painting last weekend, but I've just come back from the Artists' Group, and 2 hours was enough to finish it. Here it is: -

Project update

It's been a busy couple of weeks, and I wasn't able to do any work on the Glasgow painting at all for the last fortnight. Well, last night was the Artists' Group, and this is as far as I've got now: -

The tram is rather nicely done, I think, and the buildings on the left are coming on. I did a tiny bit of work on the figure too, darkening the shadow of the cap, and lightening some of the lines on the face.
