Yes, the second property on the standard London Monopoly board is lowly Whitechapel. It is the cheapest property north of the River Thames. It's also the only one in the East End of London. The East End was, is the area East of the City of London and the city walls, and is traditionally associated with the docks from when London was one of the world's greatest commercial ports. The East Ed was traditionally associated with poverty, crime and political activism. Whitechapel took its name from a medieval chapel, St. Mary Matfelon which was whitewashed o give it an attractive appearance. The name Whitechapel might well make you think of the Whitechapel Murders, the atrocities committed in the area by the individual known as Jack the Ripper. However Whitechapel was also home to the Whitechapel Bell Foundry, one of the oldest commercial businesses in the UK until its 2017 closure. Arguably the 2 most famous bells in the world, Philadelphia's Liberty Bell, and London's Big Ben were both cast in Whitechapel.
